This dress is gorgeous and I so wanted to love it. However, the back zipper is poorly made as others have reported. The bodice is much smaller than the skirt for sizing and I have small boobs. I suspect if your chest is generous, you will have real problems with this dress

I wore this dress for the first time today and absolutely loved it! It was a great length and I loved the pleating, but I am taking off two stars for the zipper and fit. I am a 24/26 (little more 26 lately). I bought this dress in a 26 and it *still* feels a little snug and too fitted around the waist. It definitely runs on the smaller size. I am in between two sizes so I went with the bigger one. If you are not between sizes, then definitely size up one size. The zipper was just hard to work with. It gets stuck easily and I felt like I was going to rip it if I was not careful.

I bought this a few weeks ago and wore it for Easter. The zipper can be tricky where the fabric doubles at the seams. We had to pull the fabric as close together and as straight as possible to get the zipper through those spots. It was really hard to do it without a second pair of hands but I was able to spin it around, zip it solo and spin it back. I agree with the other reviews, no stretch at all so measure yourself and be exact and if you're between sizes with a fuller bust, size up. I've regularly been a torrid 3, size 22 for years. My bust is 52 in, 44 waist and I did not have a problem with sizing. It fit perfectly to me after the zipper struggles. I'm also 5'5 and it went past my knees like a midi dress. The fabric is beautiful and the dress is not EXACTLY like Marilyn's but it's pretty close. Not see through and did not hug my belly. Bonus for handy pockets! I found it very comfortable and people loved it :)

Beautiful dress. I love that it's inspired by Marilyn's dress, the lovely blue color, the fat that it has pockets, and the delicate pleats. For me it was pretty true to size, though as others have said, there's no real give in the bodice. Also like others have said, the straps are wimpy and on the fragile side, and there are a couple of places where the pleats go a bit wavy to accommodate pockets, the zipper etc. Overall I'm pleased with it, though, as it looks different than o lot of things I buy from Torrid.

I visited the Torrid store yesterday and found this Marilyn Monroe dress. It had been returned and was two sizes larger than I would normally wear. It was so stunning that I thought - just very it on! It fit me like a glove! Absolutely beautiful and so flattering. I wore it to church today and had so many nice compliments. Gals- this dress will make you walk taller and it has the spirit of Marilyn Monroe . It has no stretch so be prepared to size up and if you are biathlon like me , size up two sizes.

I love dresses with Ockets,but these do not look well made. They seem to be an afterthought. They do not pay flat and when I put my hands in them my hand is not fully covered. There is a gap in the front, like not enough material to meet the back top part of the dress that lays closest to the body.Designer needs to see a full body model wearing the clothes to assess final fit ,especially when pockets are.concerned. the shoulder straps look thin and flimsy. This dress turned out to be exactly what I hoped for. The material is elegant and flows and twirls . I bought it a size smaller and it will fit perfectly very soon as I have been gradually losing weight. I’m so glad I bought it! I feel so pretty in it! I’m 5’2” and 254 lbs . I bought it in advance for when I get to -100 because I didn’t want to miss out. I’m so glad I bought the 1X . When I get there it will for perfectly!

Okay so I'm going to try to start off by being nice. The fabric is beautiful, the color beautiful, the white piping beautiful, the pleated bodice absolutely horrendous they did not properly lay the pleats down on the bosom in the right direction on half of the dress that I purchased I thought this was just a fluke, ended up ordering three of these dresses just to make sure I got the one I wanted and everything was okay with it each and everyone had the same problem almost like it was a machine error but since these clothes are made by people it was definitely a person error not a machine. Another problem with the dress is that every single one of the dresses had issues with the zipper. They all went back to the store I got all my money back and the one thing I will never receive is all the time I spent trying to make this work. Very disappointing. And for them to call it a Marilyn Monroe dress is a little hilarious they slapped that name on it and then charge an exuberant price for this and it's not worth the money you would pay for it if it isn't going to fit properly perform properly and look the way it's supposed to I've been a customer with Torrid since 2000 and I've noticed a decline in their quality over the last 3 years this is very heartbreaking and I can't be the only one who sees it Torrid you need to do better because this just isn't it. Very heartbroken very loyal customer but for how long????

This dress is so, so beautiful in person. It hits me (5'9) close to where it falls on the mode, and it is one of the prettiest dresses I remember buying at torrid since I first started shopping here around 2006. But, the strap adjusters feel very cheap and not sturdy at all, the straps are too short on me, and it is very tight in the bust and the empire seam under the bust. I am on the larger end of size 6 and wear a bra size 54m, so this probably won't be a problem for smaller people with less extreme busts. I wish I could size up but it is the biggest size. I am keeping it and hoping to fit in it someday because I like it so much.
